Gearing up for festival season 

Starting to warm up in the crescent city!! The Blues Trio is now at Spotted Cat on the 2nd and 4th Friday of the month. We're still at Blue Nile every Saturday and some new places around Frenchmen. The Palmetto Bug Stompers new cd Is out and selling well at our dba Sunday shows. Tin Men's newest should be released before French Quarter Fest. All three of these bands will be at French Quarter Fest. Washboard Rodeo won't be there, but we'll  be at Three Muses the Monday after. I'll be busy with instores at Louisiana Music Factory, private parties, festivals and club shows. Hope to see your smiling face in da place!!

Changes, monarchy and cold!!! 

Wow, it's cold here in New Orleans, low of 18 degrees!! The season of carnival is heating up though. First, a change in weekly schedule. The Blues Trio will now be the second and fourth Friday of each month at Spotted Cat starting in February. We'll be looking for gigs on Frenchmen for the other Fridays, so stay tuned. Big News, I will be King of Krewe of Delusion!! We'll parade on Jan 27 after Krewe de Vieux through the Marigny. Go their website for all the info about dinner, after party, etc. All my other weekly shows will be happening, plus Washboard Rodeo and a cool gig with John Rankin. Major announcements about French Quarter Fest and Jazz Fest coming soon. Tin Men and Palmetto Bug Stompers cds are close to coming out, will keep ya posted. Winter has arrived!! 

It's cold out today, getting ready for the holidays!!  All my bands have their regular gigs this month. Tin Men will be playing some Christmas songs at Fulton Street on Dec. 16 Tin Men  and Palmetto Bug Stompers new cds should be out soon. Hope to see you at the shows and have a safe and happy holiday season!!

Fun in October 

September is coming to an end and October has lots of fun ahead. Washboard Rodeo will be performing at New Orleans Swing Dance Festival Oct 1 at Ace Hotel. I'll be going to Spokane to play with Hot Club of Spokane  and a separate gig with Hawkeye Herman. Looking forward to these gigs as Spokane hosted members of the Bugs years ago for some great shows and Hawkeye is an old friend from Mississippi Valley Blues Fest days. Tin Men go in to record our new cd mid October with some new originals and some surprises. Sea shanties with Valparaiso Men's Chorus will be happening at Saturn Bar and also a private event. Have gigs with old pals Linnzi Zaorski and John Rankin, then off to Barbados for our annual well deserved vacation. In between, all my bands regular gigs will be happening when I'm not booked elsewhere. Hope to see ya at one or more of these fun shows!!

Still Hot!! 

As we head into September, it's still hot in New Orleans! Doesn't stop us from all our regular gigs because there is cool air in all! Tin Men will be back at dba on Wednesdays, Da Bugs will be off the first Sunday of the month at dba, then back for the rest of the month, Blues Trio at Spotted Cat and Blue Nile keep on chugging along. Mixing Palmetto Bug Stompers cd and sounding great. Will be out by November, in time for Christmas presents! Lots of cds and shirts available online, so check them out here. See ya soon!!

Hot Times in the City!! 

Well, had a great time in Italy and Switzerland with Paul Venturi and the Junkers. I'll be with them next summer over there for sure! Back in da heat! Blues Trio's Spotted Cat and Blue Nile keep right on chugging along. Tin Men take Wednesday off for August, but will be at dba a couple of Sundays at 9. Palmetto Bug Stompers hitting at dba on Sundays an hour earlier (5). New music from da Bugs waiting to be mixed, Tin Men threatening a new recording, possible Washboard Rodeo new offering.... lots of balls in the air. It's hot, clubs a little slower, hotels and restaurants a little cheaper, if you're from out of town, might as well come and be in town! Locals, Frenchmen not too crowded, so hope to see your face in da place!

On the move in June! 

Summer has hit New Orleans and time to get out of town for a bit. Tin Men will be in Chicago at Space and at our annual show in Osh Kosh, both with Paul Sanchez and the Rolling Road Show. A few days later, I'm of to Europe for shows in Italy and Switzerland with Paul Venturi and the Junkers. The Blues Trio performs at the Tomato Fest in New Orleans. Palmetto Bugs Stompers are in the studio recording their fifth cd. Sounding great, so far, and look for a release late 2017. Blues Trio and Da Bugs have some regular gigs in June. Come July we'll all be here in New Orleans, sweating it out with y'all. See you at the clubs and festivals!!

Jazz Fest almost over and summer awaits! 

Had a good Jazz Fest time, even though Tin Men got rained out at the Fest and it rained for most of Chaz Fest. All my bands get back to their regular weekly gigs this week. Tin Men will heading up to Chicago and I'll be in Italy with Paul Venturi and the Junkers, both in June. More on that in next post.

Spring is in the air 

Gearing up for fest season. As usual, all y bands have their regular gigs. Tin Men play a new venue, Ace Hotel, March 15. The Blues Trio play Pirogues Whisky Bar anniversary. Washboard Rodeo plays at Three Muses March 20. The weather is fine, hope to see you in the clubs

Holiday Season 

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving!1 I'll be in Italy from Dec 5-13 performing with Paul Venturi and the Junkers, looking forward to that! All my bands have their regular shows this month. Tin Men will also play a holiday show at Harrah's Casino. We're wrapping up 2016 and should have more fun coming up in 2017!!

Getting Busy 

Had a great vacation in Barbados, now back to the shows. All my bands have their regular gigs this month. Couple of weddings with Tin Men this month. The Blues Trio will be NCIS New Orleans Tuesday Nov. 15 on CBS. We got bumped a couple of times for World Series and the election, but ready to play some music on tv.It's lovely weather in New Orleans these days, hope to see you at the shows!!

Starting to cool down, but the music is still HOT!! 

Well, it's starting to feel like fall (temps down to 65ish at night) and the scene here is picking up. The bands all have their regular gigs. Da Bugs will be at the Swing Dance Festival Friday Sept. 30, then Blues Trio at Spotted Cat, then Tin Men at dba opening for Luke Winslow King's cd release! Wow, 3 gigs with three different bands in one day! Couple of private weddings thrown in the mix and Washboard Rodeo will be at Three Muses Oct. 17. Wrap it up with my annual vacation in Barbados, then back in time for Halloween, which is a big deal here. The Blues Trio will be on an episode of NCIS New Orleans sometime in October or November. Fall, but still hot!! 

September is starting off still hot. Fortunately, we have all our regular gigs and some extras to bring folks into the cool, air conditioned clubs! Tin Men, Blues Trio and Palmetto Bug Stompers at their regular gigs with Da Bugs performing fo the Lindy Hoppers Sept. 30. Washboard Rodeo at Three Muses Sept 26  and I'll be at Smokey Greenwell's jam at Bamboulas Sept12. Come by and help us celebrate fall's coming!!

Travel plans 

Well, Tin Men are coming north! We'll be at Water Fest in Osh Kosh Wisconsin June 23, then on to Minneapolis for a few house concerts and a show at Iron Tap in Waconia through June 26. I'll be teaching washboard at Centrum Acoustic Blues Workshop in Pt. Townsend, Wa. This is a great place to learn various instruments (guitar, harmonica, vocals, bass, piano, etc.) from some fantastic musicians.  I have a fun show with John Rankin at Columns Hotel July 5. All my bands will be at their regular gigs in July and August when I'm in town, so hope to see ya down here in the heat of New Orleans summer!

Summer time! 

Jazz Fest has come and gone. All my bands had great shows, but now it's back to normal. All weekly shows are happening. I'll be having special guests filling in for Andy ( he'll be in Europe) in the Blues Trio the rest of May and most of June. Dr. Sick and Matt Rhody will be playing fiddle with us on various dates. Blues Trio alumni Ben Maygarden will be on 3 shows with us May 21, 27 , 28, so come welcome him back!. At the end of June, Tin Men will be in Wisconsin for Water Fest and Minneapolis for house concerts . More on that later. Hope to see you in May and June!!

JAZZ FEST!! 

It's here, that magical time when music flows throughout the city of New Orleans, anchored by the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival! The Blues Trio has it's regular gigs at Spotted Cat and Blue Nile both weekends and also at dba 4/25. Palmetto Bugs Stompers wiil be off for 2 weeks at dba, but will be there Tuesday evening 4/26. Tin Men will be at dba Tuesday afternoon 4/26 and at Lagniappe Stage at the fest Sunday5/1. Washboard Rodeo will be at Three Muses 4/25 and also at CHAZ FEST Wednesday 4/27. This is the last Chaz fest and there is a great lineup of past favorites. Then in May, all the usual gigs will be happening,as we welcome in the hot weather. See ya at the Fest!!

Fest season is upon us!! 

Well, here we go! Busiest 5 weeks for a New Orleans musician. Tin Men, Washboard Chaz Blues Trio and Palmetto Bug Stompers all have French Quarter Fest shows the 2nd weekend of April, as well as our regular gigs. A few weddings and events with Blues Trio and Tin Men augment our month. Special Jazz Fest shows with all bands. April 25 - Blues Trio at dba followed by Washboard Rodeo at Three Muses, April 26 - Tin Men at 2, then Da Bugs at 5, both at dba. Then Wednesday April 27, CHAZ FEST at Truck Farm. Tin Men close out Jazz fest on Sunday May 1 (May Day!). Whew!!, we gonna be busy. Great lineup at Chaz Fest, very likely the last one, so get tickets early at chazfestival.com. dba has a crawfish boil before Da Bugs play on Sundays, so come early for some mudbugs, then some Palmetto Bugs. Hope to see ya somewhere in there!

Gearing up for Festival season! 

We had a great Mardi Gras down here, lots of good music and fun times. All my bands are at their regular gigs this month, fleshing out some new songs for festival season. Couple of weddings, a Fais Do Do and a trip to Abita Springs will make the month lively. Chaz Fest is on this year!! After rearranging the sale of the Truck Farm,  the fest will happen one more time April 27. chazfestival.com will be selling tickets soon and they will probably go fast! I'm excited to be teaching washboard at Pt. Townsend Wa. Centrum Blues Workshop once again. I'll be there first week of August, more details to come!! Hope to see ya boogieing in da clubs with us!

Happy Carnival (Mardi Gras)! 

Happy Carnival everybody!! All my bands have their regular gigs in February, except Da Bugs taking off for Super Bowl. Can't compete with that! The Valparaiso Men's Chorus will be doing sea shanties on Lundi Gras at Saturn Bar. This has become an annual event not to be missed. Down the line Da Bugs, Blues Trio and Tin Men will be at French Quarter Fest with Tin Men also in Jazz Fest. More info on that later. Enjoy the season, see ya at the shows!!

Happy New Year!!! 

Well, last gig of the year is Tin Men at dba 12/30, then lookout 2016!!. Got regular gigs with Tin Men, Blues Trio and Da Bugs throughout January (and beyond). Have a couple of guest artists the first two weekends in January with Blues Trio, Johnny Mastro on harp and Dr. Sick on fiddle!! Washboard Rodeo are at our monthly Three Muses gig. I'm the featured guest at Smokey Greenwell's Blues Jam at Bamboulas, looking forward to that! Carnival season kicks off with Krewe De Vieux Jan  23 and we'll be at Blue Nile for all the action. Fall News!! 

Well, I think it's really fall here in New Orleans. Jessica and I have a well deserved vacation coming up, then back to the gigs!! Palmetto Bug Stompers, Tin Men and Blues Trio all has  their regular gigs. Blues Trio will also be at Children's Hospital Jazz Marathon early Halloween morning, then end the day at Blue Nile for Frenchmen craziness! The following week, we are at Mirliton Fest. Tin Men new cd is selling well, so pick up a copy here! Back at ya soon!!

Fall is here! (kind of) 

Still hot here mid September,but the bands keep playing on!Tin Men have a show with John "Papa: Gros at Chickie Wah Wah, then the following week, Tin Men cd release at dba. Washboard Rodeo will be at the Fais Do Do at Maison Sept. 19. A fun, all ages show, that we do from time to time. Da Bugs will be at dba on Sundays as usual. The Blues Trio's regular gigs keep rolling along. Hope to see you at the gigs!

Almost Fall!! 

Tin Men had a great trip out west, saw some old friends and bandmates in Montana, Wyoming and Colorado. We're back at dba on Wednesdays and the cd release will be Sept. 23 at dba. Palmetto Bugs Stompers are also going strong at dba on Sundays. The Blues Trio's weekly gigs are all happening and Rodeo will be at Three Muses. Now, if we can just make it through all the "Katrina at 10 years" crap, we'll be fine!!

July is Hot in NOLA! 

Well, Tin Men had great shows at Ascona Jazz Fest and we're looking forward to getting back to dba in August for our regular Wednesdays. We will have a release party on Sept. 23 for our newest recording "On The Shady Side". It's getting airplay on WWOZ and can be purchased online here or at CD Baby, iTunes, and our websites.

In August, we'll be making a quick trip to the Rockies to play in Livingston, MT, Casper, WY and Gold Hill, CO, so hope our friends out there can come to the shows.

Palmetto Bug Stompers will be at Satchmo Fest at the end of July, along with our weekly shows at dba. The Blues Trio has their 3 weekly gigs in August and the new cd, Live at the Spotted Cat, has been selling well. See you at the shows!!

More Summer! 

Tin men have a new cd, "On The Shady Side"! We will be releasing it at the Ascona Jazz Festival June 25 through 30. Details on the the release party back home will be coming soon.  All my bands have their regular gigs, except The Blues Trio will be covering for Tin Men a couple of times in July. Da Bugs will be at Satchmo Fest at the end of July and Washboard Rodeo at Three Muses. The new cd should be up on the site soon, so get ready to order. Stay cool and hope to see ya at the shows!
