NEWS: It is HOT down here and everybody is starting to tour in cooler climes. Some of the regular gigs will feature different bands as cats leave town. I will be in Port Townsend, Washington for the Centrum Blues Workshops at the end of the month. See ya at the gigs Regular Gigs!

NEWS: Hi folks, June is a busy month. Washboard Rodeo goes in the studio to record their first cd. All my bands are working. My daughter gets married the first week of the month and my wife and I go on a trip to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary at the end of the month. Hope to see y'all at the gigs.

Washboard Rodeo is one of the newer bands in New Orleans playing western swing. A repertoire consisting of musical greats like Bob Wills, Milton Brown, Spade Cooley and Cliff Bruner holds down the western swing. A few city swing by the likes of Cab Calloway, Count Basie and The Cats and the Fiddle round out the sound. With a lineup featuring string instruments, the band gives off an old time feel. Neti Vaan, aka Nellie Belle, on fiddle, Matt Rhody, aka Tater, on fiddle and mandolin, James Walsh, aka Big Possum, on upright bass, Matt Johnson, aka Dapper Dan  on guitar and Chaz, aka Scruboard Chuck, on washboard and snare drum. Check us out and get ready to dance!

NEWS: It's Jazz Fest time and New Orleans is hopping. I will be playing weddings the last four Saturdays in May with Tin Men and Blues Trio. Andy, Slim and Kenny Holladay will be covering the Spotted Cat gigs. The Cat is supposed to change hands May 1, so we'll see what happens. Everything is supposed to stay the same, but you never know It's been a great seven year run for The Blues Trio and hope it will continue. See ya at the gigs!

Hope everybody had a happy holiday season. The Washboard Chaz Blues Trio has been selected to play JazzFest on May 1. The Palmetto Bug Stompers play Dance Renaissance's winter extravaganza featuring dancers from around the U.S.Tin Men now have a weekly gig at dba and all 6 of my bands have gigs this month. Looking forward to a great October. The Blues Trio plays The Crescent City Blues Festival and Voodoo Fest in the same week. Tin Men also play Voodoo Fest and will be gigging more in the upcoming months For news down the road, The Palmetto Bug Stompers will start the new year in January with Dance Renaissance Swing Dances on Jan. 3

The Washboard Chaz Blues Trio got a great review in the Blues Revue Magazine Oct/ Nov issue #114. This is the world's leading blues publication. If you see it on your news stand, pick up a copy and checkout our review.

We have a new band for Tuesdays at the Spotted Cat, "Feral Cat". Fronted by St. Louis Slim and myself, we'll be playing dixieland and calypso! I finished recording a cd with my Japan and Nashville friends. Look for it in the coming months. Tin Men play a rare gig at dba and The Blues Trio's tour of France and Italy was a tremendous success.

 

07/15/2008:
The folk trio consisting of Chaz, Alex McMurray and Jonathan Freilich finally have a name - The Mirlitones. We'll be playing some more in the coming months. The Blues Trio returns to Spotted Cat after a successful European tour. The Blues Trio and Tin Men with The Valparioso Men's Chorus have been added to the Voodoo Fest lineup here in New Orleans Oct. 24 - 27. Stay tuned for updates.

Chaz will be heading to Italy and France this month for shows with Roberto and some with Andy. Slim will hold the fort at The Spotted Cat on July 19, 26 and Aug. 1 Washboard Rodeo, the new western swing band, plays a gig with an eye on the fall for a busier schedule and Palmetto Bugs keep on stomping.

The Washboard Chaz Blues Trio will have a cd release for it's latest recording "Mix It Up". It will be at The Spotted Cat ,Sat. Apr. 5 from 6:30 - 9:45. The band is also up for a Big Easy Award for Best Blues Band. The ceremony is at Harrah's on Mon. Apr. 21 at 8pm. Wish us luck !!!St. Louis Slim is now our regular guitarist. He's been playing with us off and on for a few years and now brings his talents full time to the band. Come out and see us as we head into fest season

03/01/2008:
Chaz will be touring Italy and France from March 12 - 21. Hope to see all my fans in those countries.
On a sad note, Guitarist and friend extraordinaire, Roberto Luti, is being deported back to Italy, due to his visa and passport's expiration.We will be conducting a search to replace Roberto, but he will be sorely missed. Hopefully, he can come back to the U.S. soon and we will probably do our summer Italian with him.
St. Louis Slim will be manning the guitar chair for the time being.

01/01/2007:
Chaz will be returning to Tokyo for a Mardi Gras party at Sweet Basil on Feb. 3, sponsored by Bourbon St., a Tokyo eatery and nightclub.
Chaz will perform Jan 31 and Feb 1 for the Tokyo Press Club.
